Community Activities

Your Neighborhood Ford Store is proud to support fundraising events, charities and local organizations that enrich lives in the communities we serve.

As so many of our dealerships are family-run businesses, we are particularly passionate about supporting causes that improve the lives other local families.

Pittsburgh Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®

The Neighborhood Ford Store is a longtime sponsor of Pittsburgh’s annual Komen Race for the Cure on Mother’s Day morning at Schenley Park.

2013 marks the 19th year of support for Susan G. Komen by Ford and its dealers. During that time, Ford has dedicated more than $115 million to the breast cancer cause. For the sixth year, the Neighborhood Ford Store set up its “Patchwork Station” booth, where participants decorate fabric squares to be included as part of the annual “Warrior Quilt Program.”

The Ford Warrior Quilts are made from thousands of individual squares created by community members and groups which are sewn together by local volunteer quilters.

The quilts are donated to breast cancer centers and hospitals throughout the region to promote awareness of the disease, provide inspiration and comfort to those undergoing treatment, and assist in finding a cure.

Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

The Neighborhood Ford Store is a major sponsor of the Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, a 10-day event held at venues throughout the area each July and benefiting The Autism Society of Pittsburgh and Allegheny Valley School.

As the Official Truck of the PVGP, specially-decaled Ford trucks keep race events on track, moving supplies and volunteers.

For the last several years, the Neighborhood Ford Store has sponsored the Kid’s Pit Stop tent at the family-friendly free race weekend at Schenley Park. As part of the Kid’s Pit Stop, children can take part in racing-inspired activities including creating custom miniature race vehicles from interlocking building bricks and sending them racing down a track during the Ford Junior Grand Prix.

Caring for Kids Campaign

As a fundraiser for children’s hospital charities throughout the region, for the past several years the Neighborhood Ford Store has donated a vehicle in the Caring for Kids raffle. Two dollar raffle tickets are sold at Eat ‘n Park restaurants in western Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia during the holiday months for the chance to win the Ford vehicle.

Now in its 35th year, Eat’n Park’s Caring for Kids Campaign has raised more than $8 million for children’s hospitals located throughout the dining chain’s footprint, including the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation locally. Monies collected from the campaign stay in the communities where donated, making it a true local and community-driven fundraiser.

Pittsburgh Steelers

The toughest team deserves the toughest truck – and that’s why the F-Series is the Official Truck of the Pittsburgh Steelers. In celebration of that partnership, the Neighborhood Ford Store holds an annual sweepstakes to give away the ultimate tailgating vehicle – an F-150 XLT SuperCrew Truck, completely wrapped in Steelers colors and logos.

Check out the Official Truck and stop by the Neighborhood Ford Store tent outside Heinz Field during Steelers home games to register for your chance to win and take part in fun fan activities.

Pittsburgh International Auto Show

More than 35 manufacturers come together at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center to showcase the latest and greatest of the automotive industry for four days each February. The show is a low-pressure way for enthusiasts and casual shoppers to experience and compare a wide range of vehicles all under one roof.

The Neighborhood Ford Store’s display stands apart from the crowd, regularly featuring a full lineup of Ford products as well as a handful of not-yet-available vehicles. Additionally, attractions at the Ford area often include a live radio broadcast by players on the Steelers Radio Network, Ford vehicle racing simulators, and other interactive elements and stations.

The Neighborhood Ford Store is also a sponsor of the Red Carpet Charity Preview Gala, put on by the Greater Pittsburgh Automobile Dealers Foundation as a fundraiser for Austin’s Playroom Project, an initiative of the Mario Lemieux Foundation. The 2013 Gala raised $100,000 for the cause.
